Jonah [one month]

Jonah, you are a month old...
and you are so sweet. I mean...so.sweet.

We all love you, very much. Thank goodness you don't mind much of the things we do...the loud volumes, the shuffling around, the touching, the tickling, and of course the snuggling.
You really are a good baby, you don't have much to complain about unless you are hungry, have a gas bubble, or get put in the carseat (although you are not near as vocal about this as your brothers were! thank goodness!!). You eat well, about every 2-3 hours during the day, and every 3-4 hours at night.
I am shocked that I have yet to use a burp cloth due to spit up. You just don't do it. (At least yet.)
We have all had some form of colds/allergies over the last month, including you. It isn't affecting your eating or sleeping..which is nice. You just snort and grunt around at night while you eat..but otherwise fall right back to sleep when you are done. You sleep in our room for now, in a sleep sack on your back. (As much as I think it would make sense for you to like to be swaddled...you never really have liked that...so be it.)

{one week old}

You have beautiful eyes. They are blue (in most pictures they look really dark), I won't be surprised if they would turn brown at some point. We think you resemble Christian a bit..but you definitely have your own look too. You certainly have more hair than either of your brothers did as a baby!

{two weeks old}

{3 weeks old}

You have two very caring big brothers..they love you quite a bit.
Christian is very gentle with you. He talks to you calmly and if you cry, he will tell you, "It's alright baby cakes...big brother is here." We like to call you baby cakes sometimes. It seems fitting somehow.

I know the picture below is blurry of you...but it seems to sum up the three of you.Christian having a more quiet undertone regarding his liking to you...and Noah, well the opposite. He is not rough with you (usually)...but he is much more passionate about showing his love for you with his actions. It will be fun to see how the interactions will change as you grow older and bigger.

Noah is quite frequently wondering what you are doing. He checks in on you...kisses your head, tickles your hands/feet, or just looks at your face REALLY close with a smile. He calls you "Oon-ah", sometimes "Joo-nah".
He will often request, "I hold Oon-ah", with his arms open ready to carry you. I place you down to him, while still holding you...he will look down at you for a couple seconds and then 'return' you to my arms very quickly. Throughout the day, he will give me updates (even if it is while I am holding you or feeding you). "Oon-ah seeping (sleeping). Ssssssshhh." "Oon-ah eating (while he gets VERY close to your head to make sure indeed you are eating)." You won't get away with being left alone for very long as long as Noah is around!

{4 weeks old}

You weigh 10 lbs 2 oz, 21 3/4 in long...putting you at the 60% in both areas. Your head is 39 cm..93%, lots of brains in there! You outgrew your newborn clothes around 3 weeks. You wear 0-3, 3 mo sleepers, and size 1 diapers.
Two things that I am glad for that I didn't have with the other two: the Moby baby wrap (it is so comfortable to carry you on walks with this..it doesn't even feel like I have it on!! And it can hold Noah (still very comfortably)....he was my guinea pig, and he actually liked it!) and the cozy cover for the carseat (it keeps you warm, without making you CRAZY sweaty and its super easy to get you in and out of without any hassle).

My favorite part about this stage in your life, is simply snuggling you to pieces. You are so cuddly, and I love to hold you on my chest...especially in the late evening when I'm not chasing other little boys around. I love to kiss your chubby little cheeks. You have given me glimpses of what your smile looks like in your sleep...and you had about the cutest little giggle as you drifted off to sleep the other day. I'm so glad you are healthy and growing...but please don't grow too fast ;)

Tree house [part two]

The tree house/swing set is a work in progress.
During the first phase, the first level was attached with slide, and the beam for the swing set was put up.

So over the course of the summer and into the fall the following progress has been made...

..stairs leading up to the first level.

A super helpful 1 year old was manning the drill.

Railing was put up all the way around.

Further additions to prepare for the second level.

A pulley was added on Christian's birthday, from Grandpa and Grandma.

 A handrail was placed (made from an old trampoline frame)

Netting for the stairs.

More progress towards the second level.

Bracing the joint for the swing set differently...and added hooks for swings.

Kade Birthday

Kade turned eight!
Alyssa makes some pretty amazing cakes...he requested their "back yard".
She did awesome.

Kade-man..you are one of a kind.
You are full of spunk, a certain edge of sneakiness, yet so sensitive and genuine.
You have just the right compliments and questions of concern...so sincere, which blows my mind sometimes.

Kade showing Noah his new frog. Noah is a fan of Kade.

I think we all want a hat like Kade got for his birthday...I guess its one size fits all.

We opened presents, ate lunch, and played HeadBanz..a good time all around.

 Happy Birthday Kade.
You are a special boy, nephew, cousin...and we all love you lots!

Adjusting to three

Jonah
(His first Sunday to church 10.26.14)

Having a new baby comes with change...with comes with adjustments. So far all of us are adjusting well. We are all back to being mostly healthy...just some runny noses/sneezing left for 4 out of the 5 of us (Ben seems to be in the clear). I'm glad that Ben has passed down the ability to block out a newborn cry to both Christian and Noah. And although that is somewhat sarcastic..I actually am glad that it doesn't wake anybody up when in reality I'm the only one that needs to be awake to feed him anyway.

(Ready for our first walk outside..........and the sweet little face I get to see at 3 am)

Noah is very open about his love for Jonah. He continues to kiss him VERY frequently. He "needs" to check on him often. When I am feeding him, he will climb up on my lap and check out the situation and often make sure I know that my shirt can "snap" at the strap. He will randomly want to hold Jonah, but it literally lasts less than a second before he smiles and QUICKLY hands pushes him back for me to hold. He often goes to where he is lying to try and pick him up...or at least get his hands underneath him and wiggle his little hands around enough to get him awake. If he is unsure where Jonah is at in the morning, he gets concerned..."oh no!! (shrugs his shoulders and turns his palms up) Baby go???" He can say his name...most often said, "No-nah".

He also turns on the vibrating part of the chair...which is not necessary for Jonah's sake. He looks a bit guilty with the picture on the right!?

He brought this lovely NOISY toy to me while I was feeding Jonah. He was so proud for making the toy play the song over and over again :)

Christian is fairly neutral about the new baby. He loves him, he will ask or comment about him throughout the day...just not near as "hands on" as Noah likes to be. He is very helpful in getting me things when I ask, or talking to Jonah is such a sweet voice if he starts to cry. The hardest adjustment for him seems to be the change in attention that he gets at the exact times he would like it. I think that is pretty normal, and I'm glad for the time of Ben was able to take..he spent a lot of time playing and doing various things with both Christian and Noah. One of the funniest things he's said..Noah was talking about a belly in a book, and Christian said, "Noah is saying he thinks there is a baby in your belly Mommy...and that is not kind, that is like calling you fat." (I just smile...and then he looks at my belly.) "But Mommy, your belly really is going down, and people won't call you that you have a baby in there anymore. Because that would be rude to say that, because that's like calling you fat, and you aren't." I had to laugh..oh Christian, you are just a tender little child...there are adults that don't understand this concept.

Ben is quite helpful with the boys. Again, it was so nice to have him at home for a week!! He always says he doesn't feel useful during the newborn phase..since he can't feed the baby and that's usually the need if he's crying. However, he is VERY useful and especially when I am feeding Jonah with watching/playing/entertaining the other two..and bringing me water (as I almost always forget when I feed him..and I get SO thirsty!) He's a good daddy..and good to me :)

Me...I feel good. My feet have FINALLY started to look normal. The left one especially stayed very swollen up until now. It still seems very surreal I have THREE little boys...and they all have their own quirks, and looks, and personalities, and I love them all SO very much. I feel very blessed.

A few more random pictures...of goodies that the boys have received in the mail!

Noah Birthday Party!

Noah turned two!
We delayed his birthday party...it was hard to know when Jonah was going to arrive. So we celebrated a week after his birthday with both sides of the family.

We had a fire truck cake and icecream/sherbet, and some kind of chex mix/candy combo snack.
Noah's not a big fan of cake...just the frosting. He's also not a fan of icecream, but he will eat sherbet. Now candy...oh he LOVES himself some candy!

The highlight of the cake..is definitely the candles.

Watching him open his presents

Paul showing him how his new bath toy works

Great Grandpa John helping him with his new present

And Jonah got to meet Great Grandpa and Grandma Hershberger for the first time!

 Happy Birthday Noah!
You are so fun...so lively...and we hope two does well for you!
