Off again...this time to Detroit Lakes, MN with Jessica's family in a van! All but a couple from the extended family were gathered at the Birky house. We had games, live entertainment :) , four wheeling, a pig roast, camp fire singing, a hay ride, softball at cow pie stadium, a "bear hunt"...and fellowship. Oh, yes and Ben went fishing almost every night with Mitch and a cousin :) . On Sunday afternoon, some of us went up to Itasca State Park..where the Mississippi River starts..it was a beautiful day. After going to two reunions in a row, we felt fortunate that our families want to get together... often we hear how people dread going to these events!
the view from Stanley and Shirley's front yard...the home where most the events took place (my aunt and uncle)
Lots of four-wheeling...so FUN!
Entertainment...the 3 sisters (with their daughters arms) making cookies!
Nashville, TN....we drove out in a van with Ben's parents and brother, arriving at Opryland hotel June 12th. The majority of the extended family was already there, and the rest who came arrived on the 13th. It is such a nice place and so BIG! We had a good time touring around Nashville, visiting the Hermitage (Andrew Jackson's home), going out to eat, and my favorite was going to a show at the Grand Old Opry. Much thanks to Grandpa and Grandma Hershberger for their generosity...I know we enjoyed ourselves!

We went to Arkansas for our honeymoon, stayed in a nice cabin at Mt Nebo State Park. It was beautiful, quiet and relaxing. We went on a few hikes, walked around the rim of the mountain, and lounged around. It rained at least once during the day everyday...but that really didn't bother us. I was glad for the time of relaxation to soak in the previous weeks events...ahhhh..it was good!!
the view from the back of our cabin...oh yes, and it had a GIANT tub...Ben could lay completely down in it!

Well, we thought it might be fun to have a place where our friends and family can see what we're up to...so here we have it...our very own blog. Its hard to believe we've been married for a month, its still soaking in. Since the wedding, we went on a honeymoon in Arkansas (Mt. Nebo State Park), gone to TN for the Hershberger reunion (Opryland hotel) and this last weekend we went to MN for the Birky reunion. So I guess I don't feel to crazy for not feeling totally adjusted to the married life yet. Meanwhile, Ben's been working for a remodeling company doing miscellaneous jobs but mostly painting. These jobs they are hired for are not really for practical people...they are a little over the top, and basically sound like they don't know how else to use their money so they add on to their house in one way or another. I have been working at the Wesley Medical Center in labor and delivery still, on an as needed basis, which right now is a "very frequent basis". So between both of us working (this week I worked 7p-7a three nights, and Ben's worked 7a-7ish) we are trying to get things in place at home and maybe even have some time together! So far its been fun adjusting and getting used to what marriage entails...I'm sure it will have its moments. I hope to add pictures from the wedding and the other events that have happened since soon. Feel free to leave us a message, comment, concern...well maybe not so much that...but anyways, we'd love to hear from you.
