Coming along

Seems hard to believe I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow.
Time is flying, especially the last several weeks.

We are all excited about baby brother.
I'm actually maybe a little nervous how passionate Noah seems to get around babies. I guess the little fella won't know it any other way and will just be loved on..hopefully somewhat gently.

(32 weeks)

My view looking down :)

(33.2 weeks)

Ben was carrying in a watermelon at Mom and Dad's and said something to the effect of "there's no way you're as big as a watermelon"...so he stuck it in his shirt to compare. :) What a goof.

(33.3 weeks)

I've been working on a blanket/quilt for the little man. It's done now!
This was the layout.

I've been getting odds and ends around...getting his room somewhat ready...
this is my "helper" while Christian is at preschool and I'm trying to do these things. When I get things out to put away, he will decide if it is worthy of staying in the place I just placed it. Not maybe the most helpful person to have around when trying to organize. :)

As excited as I am to meet you...hold you...and love on you...
I am okay with you cooking in there a little bit longer!

Today I am thankful

I'm thankful...for a number of things.
But specifically for today, I am thankful for Ben.
I had a strange night at work last night (there has been many of those lately), which ended up meaning I didn't get home until 5:45 am. A short night sleep to say the least.
Ben surprised me by taking the day off the next day.
Oh, so nice.
He took Christian to preschool, and then Noah to play at the park, so I could get a couple hours of sleep. It was a much appreciated couple hours indeed!

He made a picnic lunch, and we all went to another park to eat/play after picking up Christian.
It was just a good time. I enjoyed watching them play..it makes my heart happy.

I am also thankful for these two boys of mine..(well three).
I am thankful for their health, their lively personalities, and their innocence.
So much to be thankful for.
It was just a good day.

My baby's not a baby

Oh Noah. You have just grown up so much in the last couple months.
It is becoming very clear to me, you are not a baby anymore!! (However, you will always be MY baby...just as your brother(s) will be!)

You have transitioned from the crib to the lower bed of the bunk beds in what was "Christian's" room..
but is now "Christian and Noah's" room.
You have it all figured out. You lay down, ask for your "bankies" (blankies), wave up at "Trishen" (Christian) to say goodnight, ask for your "moke" (milk)..and that's it! You also are fine with helping yourself out of bed instead of crying out as you did in your crib. So now if you wake up, I have a smiley little boy staring at me in bed :) It's kind of alarming...but you usually go back down alright.

(Sept 19...the first night you slept all night in your big boy bed!)

Your vocabulary is on a high speed learning curve right now. You have also shown clear signs that your year as a two year old is nearing...quite the stinker you are my dear!
You are still my baby for a little bit longer...I love you lots Noah!!

Camp Out

One of the things we had on our "summer checklist" was a campout.
It was a perfect evening, so we decided to go for it.

While Ben and the boys were setting up the tent and getting the fire going, I got some food around.

I'm not really sure what it was that I went outside to check on, but I managed to COMPLETELY forget that I had popcorn on the stove. (Here I thought I was so ahead of the evening's events...and was going to make a bowl of popcorn to have in the tent! HA!)
I had just placed it on the stove, left the burner on high...and came back to a disgustingly smoke invaded - severely charred popcorn popper - thank the Lord it did not catch on fire - house.

So, instead of really "enjoying" the campfire part of things I was cleaning up the kitchen, opening up all the windows in the house, lighting any candle I could find....trying to get the smell of not even burnt popcorn, but smoke/fire smell out of our house. I ended up taking down the curtains in the kitchen/dining/living room and washing them. It was just not ideal.

HOWEVER....I'm happy to report that the campfire and campout was well underway. Christian had some minor attitude adjustments to make as seen in some of the pictures...but overall, it was a success.

A good campfire is not complete without marshmallows and/or s'mores. This makes for two very happy boys. Christian was proud to roast them for whoever would eat them, but in the end he decided he just wanted plain marshmallows.

After baths, Noah and I joined Ben and Christian in the tent for the story and Bible story.
To put it mildy...Noah was out of control in the tent. I'm not sure what it was about being in a smallish, confined space...but he was literally bouncing ALL over the place! It was safe to assume, he was not going to attempt to sleep out there. I think the neighborhood would thank us for that decision.

Christian and Ben stayed out all night.
It was pretty cute how proud he was that he stayed out all night long!

Feels like Fall

Ah...fall. You feel like you are here today. I hope you decide to stay.

We enjoyed the outdoors. Christian decided gloves were deemed necessary, I wouldn't go THAT far...but it was a cool day.

He is doing so much better at writing his name all by himself.
It is just amazing to see him grow up in a developmental way..if that makes sense. How he sounds things out, how he processes things, just all the things that "happen" as you grow up...but it's happening before our eyes and its just cool to see.

He could "handle" airing up his own tire.

Speaking of growing up...what in the world..when did Noah get so BIG!

I could definitely get used to this weather...and enjoying more time outdoors with these guys!

A muddy encounter

It was a lovely evening. We had supper outside, followed by innocent playing.
And then things changed.

There was water sitting in a toy...which Ben had just dumped out...leaving behind some mud.
Christian appreciates mud on his own terms..Noah pretty much just loves mud.

Christian got to the frantic state regarding Noah's muddiness...which just made Noah think it was a game. Noah was running after him with his muddy hands and he was SCREAMING in fear of getting dirty.

Here is a video of the events... (I'm probably a bad mom for laughing at Christians "misfortune"...but it was too funny.)

A surprise picnic

I thought I'd surprise Christian with a special meal after picking him up from preschool.
He was pretty excited.
A picnic at the arboretum.
It was a really nice day...and we had the place to ourselves :)

Summer sausage, cheese, chips, carrots, cookies...
he was SO pleased with the lunch, it was "perfect".

I brought along bread, and they spent quite a bit of time feeding the turtles and fish.

It was just as much fun for me as it was for them....makes my heart happy.
