A day in the kitchen

Christian and I went to Hesston to help Mom make applesauce. There is nothing like fresh homemade applesauce..makes my mouth water thinking about it. 

I also wanted to make dinner rolls with her supervision to make sure I knew what I was doing...I think I know how to make them now!

Then, they had SO many tomatoes I asked if I could use them to make pizza/spaghetti sauce..so I did that while I was there too. Quite the productive day I must say!!

 

Labor Day

The weather was beautiful yesterday. Ben spent the morning working...he started a new job/house to paint. He came home by noon because Mom Hershberger came to visit and bring us dinner. Later in the afternoon we went to Hesston to spend time with the Sweigart family. We went on the four-wheelers, which is always a lot of fun for all of us! Dad Sweigart had made new trails in the backyard, so we tried those out for awhile.

As part of one of his group assignments for a class, Ben has to dress and act like a nerdy teacher. I think he won't have a problem with the outfit he borrowed from my mom. Since Ben doesn't really look at this blog, I figured I'm safe in posting these...

5 weeks old

Christian is five weeks old, and growing so fast it seems. He is noticeably filling out his clothes and diapers. He is more alert and awake for longer periods of time. His sleep pattern at night is not a set schedule yet, but I think/hope we are getting there. Usually he sleeps for 3-4 hours at a time at night, I think one time there was a 5 hour stretch. Overall he is such a good baby, only cries when he is hungry or has one of those pesky gas bubbles. Grandma H. came to visit yesterday and brought us lunch...we were all glad for the visit!

Jackson-Yoder Wedding

Justin Yoder and Stephanie Jackson got married Sept 5 in Oklahoma. I'm so happy for them. Justin has been a good friend of mine since middle school, and Steph became a good friendof mine while we were at Hesston College in the same mod. Lucky for me, I have two good friends that married each other that are going to live in Hesston.

Christian and I went down the Thursday before the wedding with 3 other bridesmaids. Friday, we did misc things and then in the evening was rehearsal which Ben came down for as well. Saturday we had a bridal brunch at Steph's sister-in-law's mother's house...which was very good! Then we went to the church to get ready. Meanwhile, Ben golfed with the boys in the morning...he's not really that into golfing, but I guess it was a social event :) The wedding was pretty, and everything went well! Christian did very well..traveling, being shuffled around from place to place, eating/sleeping, and hanging out with the girls alot!

one month old!

Its hard to believe Christian is already a month old! Sometimes in the middle of the night it feels like it was longer ago than that, but most of the time it feels like the time has flown. He is a really good baby. I'm hoping that he gets a little better at sleeping longer during the night, but we'll give him a bit more time to get that down.  It's been more fun to watch him as he is awake more often during the day. He will focus on our faces now, and give smiles, although I don't think they are the "real" ones yet. I went up to work a day before he was 4 weeks and weighed him...9 lbs 3 oz! I guess he's getting enough food :)
