the artist

It amazes me how many little changes occur "suddenly" with a child that's past the first year.
Within the last month or so, Christian has been much more interested in coloring. With that, when using a coloring book he has been more intentional with where he is coloring on the page. Not that he stays in the lines, but at least he acknowledges what he is coloring and tries to color that section. He knows his colors, however, he calls white "black" and black "white"...but oh well. He will draw something squiggly and say, I draw my name.."chrishten." Or he'll draw a circle and say, "I draw a shape. I draw a circle." I thought that was a fluke..so I pointed at a triangle and he said, "it's another shape." What shape is it? "a triangle!" (Must be said with the angle part in a higher voice!)  Hmm..I don't know how he knows these things sometimes. They're smart, I tell you, they know more than you think!

All of that to say,
He got this easel from Grandpa and Grandma H. for Christmas.
And he is a big fan! He might need Grandpa H to give him some pointers someday..but for now, we'll let him create his own masterpieces!

When I asked what he drew, he said, "a dinosaur foot."
I don't have a clue why..he's got a mind of his own.
